WLS and having a baby

One of my worst memories was when my son was only 5 weeks old and my electrolytes got out of balance once again requiring me to go to the hospital. My husband took me and we brought the baby as we didn't know what else to do with him. I was nursing and could hear him screaming to be fed while I awaited the results of bloodwork they had taken. I begged the doctor to allow him to come back to nurse as we didn't have any other food for him. He reluctantly agreed and my poor little son latched on like he was starved to death. I was admitted to the hospital............potassium at dangerous levels causing my heart not to beat right and other things were way off. Poor hubby tried to take care of the baby and slept all night and never woke up to feed the baby. I'm sure he was screaming. He was allowed to bring the baby up to the hospital once a day to nurse and I sent home bottles I'd pumped. I made him take the baby to his sister in law's to keep as I knew she'd do a better job waking up to feed him. :) I was there three days and cried and cried because what should have been one of the happiest times of my life was spoiled by that stupid weight loss surgery making me sick.....once again. My pediatrician balled me out and accused me of not feeding the baby right as he hadn't gained weight and tried to make me go off the breast and onto a bottle. He picked up in weight the next week though. I'm sure he sensed my stress from being so ill. It was terrible. How stupid I was to do that to my body. I'm lucky my kid turned out healthy. I was considered a high risk pregnancy and my OB/GYN was worried I know as she had never treated a WLS patient before. I was 26 years old when he was born........3 years after my bypass surgery.
